Minutes of the meeting of 7-25-2005

A regular meeting of the Planning Commission of Alexandria Township was held on the 25^th Day of July 2005.

ROLL CALL: Commission members present were John Knowles, Russ Niskanen, Larry Steidl, and Bryon Alstead. Also present was Gregg Raisanen, Township Clerk. As said members formed a quorum and the meeting was called to order by Chairman Knowles at 7:00 PM.

Alstead, seconded by Steidl, made a motion to approve the minutes of the 6/27/05 meeting as written. Motion carried.

Ben Oleson, Community Growth Institute (CGI), provided the commission an overview of the status of the Comprehensive Land Use Plan. He indicated that the proposal would update the maps from the previous plan, identify future land use patterns, review land use policies such as subdivisions, variances and conditional use permits, and also infrastructure requirements such as roads and public facilities. He provided a proposed timeframe for completion of the plan. The commission discussed the level of detail needed in the plan and was in consensus that in most areas a medium level of detail would be sufficient.

Mr. Oleson talked about ways to increase public participation in the process and recommended different approaches. It was decided that a newsletter would be published inviting the public to the next meeting on August 22, 2005, utilization of the township and CGI websites, and local media would also be utilized.

Being no further business, Niskanen, seconded by Alstead, made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Meeting adjourned at 8:05 PM.
