Minutes of the meeting of December 12, 2005

 

A special public meeting of the Planning Commission of Alexandria Township was held on the 12th day of December, 2005.

 

ROLL CALL:  Commission members present were John Knowles, Julie Feuling and Larry Steidl.  Also present was Bonnie Fulghum, Deputy Clerk.  As said members formed a quorum and the meeting was called to order by Chairman Knowles at 7:00 p.m.

 

Feuling, seconded by Steidl, made a motion to approve the agenda as presented.  Motion carried unanimously.

 

Steidl, seconded by Feuling, made a motion to approve the minutes of the November 14, 2005 meeting as written.  Motion carried unanimously.

 

Commission member Russ Niskanen joined the meeting.

 

Chairman Knowles asked for a consensus amongst the commission members regarding (1) the cancellation of the November 28th meeting due to inclement weather; and (2) that a regular planning commission meeting will not be held on December 26th due to the holiday.  Consensus reached.

 

Commission member Steidl gave an overview of the meeting he attended regarding Appendix A of the Douglas County Subdivision Ordinance.  He commented that this was eventually tabled due to concerns raised at the meeting.

 

Ben Oleson, Zoning Administrator, entertained discussion on the three Residential Districts outlined in a handout; i.e. Urban Residential, Transition Residential, and Rural Conservation Residential.  Commission members raised questions with regard to the extent of expansion of ALASD boundaries within the township.  One of the goals of the Land Use Map is to identify the natural resources and determine what needs to be protected; i.e. wetlands, forests, farm land, etc.

 

Steidl, seconded by Feuling, made a motion to designate January 9, 2006 and February 13, 2006 as special public planning commission meeting dates.  Motion carried unanimously.

 

Being no further business, Steidl, seconded by Feuling, made a motion to adjourn the meeting.  Meeting adjourned at 8:57 p.m.
